Steve:so you're looking to leave your nine to five job, right? You wanna do something different, But you're probably a bit lost. You've changed jobs likely multiple times, but what you really need is a complete career change. You might be thinking, where do I even start?
Kathy:From where you sit, this is the worst crisis you've ever faced. But from where I sit, it's the first moment you can choose who you want to be in the world. Now, who do you want to be?
Steve:Welcome to the new season of escape. The nine to five I'm hosting creator, Steve oily. I followed the traditional career path. Getting good grades at high school, going to college, graduating with a very respectable degree and landing a dream job on paper, but finding myself unhappy. And I noticed so many people in their late twenties and early thirties in a similar situation. I got curious. How can we escape the nine to five and find a meaningful work that still pays the rent in season one of escape, the nine to five, I spoke to some people who'd made the leap, including uncovering some of the myths. We tell ourselves that hold us back,
Clare Mann:what has influenced me to choose the career path to do what are the messages I tell myself or other people tell me when I look to change? Or gosh, I'm 30, I've got a mortgage. I ought to be settled down and well, I've been doing accountancy for a while, even though you may not like it well, do you really want to be doing that for another 30 years? So ask yourself first, the question is, what comes up when I dare to think about changing
Steve:in season two, we're doing a deeper dive into how to make a career change And I will be sharing more of the framework I've created to help you escape the nine to five job. Some of our guests this season include career experts, Kathy Caprio, and Joseph Lou. Author and Ted speaker, Nigel marsh an award-winning national geographic photographer. Jason Edwards.
Jason:The person inside of you, who is questioning the nine to five, that's the voice that's looking out for you. that voice that you are hearing, that's telling you you're unhappy, or that something needs to change. that's the voice you should listen to the most, if you can.
Steve:we end each episode with a few tips from our guests and each week I'll give you a take home challenge to help you on your own career change journey. I created escape the nine to five with the intention of providing an achievable framework out of a nine to five job. I want each and every one of you to design a career that works for you while our guests may have impressive backgrounds of their own. The framework is designed to be realistic. You can create a lifestyle that works for you while still paying the bills and living a comfortable lifestyle. I'm not saying that the journey will be easy, but it will be worth the effort.
Kevin:you have your fair share of days where it's scary and more so than anything else for sure. But, you know, like you no longer have that voice that said. And I really living up to my potential, right? That little voice that's like, is this really the best you can do? And that goes away when you take the leap and you really get you, you are pushing yourself, you are being challenged, you are failing, you are uncomfortable.
Steve:In season two, we'll be releasing episodes weekly with guest episodes, every fortnight and in the alternating weeks, we'll be releasing quick bite episodes with specific career advice.
